It’s official—Sony has announced the title of the highly anticipated Spider-Man 4, and it’s not an April Fools’ joke! Revealed at CinemaCon 2025, the next chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day and is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026.
The release date places Spider-Man: Brand New Day right after Avengers: Doomsday but before Avengers: Secret Wars, aligning with previous rumors. Despite earlier speculation that the film might be pushed back to December 2026, Sony has opted to keep its summer release slot, likely capitalizing on the momentum from the recent Avengers: Doomsday hype.
Last week, Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday stunt revealed 27 cast members in an innovative livestream event that drew 275 million viewers. Notably, Tom Holland’s Spider-Man was absent from the reveal, fueling rumors that an official Spider-Man 4 announcement was imminent.
The title Brand New Day has sparked excitement among fans, especially since a recent Spider-Man 4 plot leak mentioned the name. At CinemaCon, director Destin Daniel Cretton took the stage to discuss the film, teasing a bold new direction for the beloved superhero.
“Every day right now, I’m exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of incredible artists,” Cretton said. “How to swing, how to create an emotional story, and how to take fans on a ride they haven’t seen before.”
While the director joked about having a trailer but not being able to show it, the announcement was made even more exciting by a virtual appearance from Tom Holland, who joined via Zoom due to his commitment to filming Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, also set for a July 2026 release.
“I am so sorry I can’t be with you. I am halfway around the world shooting a movie,” Holland said. “I know we left you with a massive cliffhanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider-Man: Brand New Day is exactly that—a fresh start. That’s all I can say. That’s all I’ve been allowed to say.”
Holland’s words suggest Brand New Day could serve as a soft reboot for the character, moving away from the multiversal chaos of No Way Home. However, an intriguing rumor from November claimed that Brand New Day could still feature some wild cameos, hinting that the movie might be more than just a street-level reset.
Among the biggest rumors? Robert Downey Jr. potentially returning as Doctor Doom. Given the resemblance between Iron Man and Doctor Doom’s comic-book arc, this theory could have a solid foundation within the evolving MCU.
As of now, the full cast remains under wraps. Fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation on whether Zendaya (MJ) and Jacob Batalon (Ned Leeds) will reprise their roles. Additionally, rumors suggest that Sadie Sink could be playing a new version of Jean Grey, further connecting the film to Marvel’s expanding X-Men storyline.
While we still have a lot to learn about Spider-Man: Brand New Day, this CinemaCon announcement finally gives fans something concrete to look forward to. Production is expected to begin later this year, with the film swinging into theaters summer 2026.
Stay tuned for more updates on the next chapter of Spider-Man in the MCU!
