He and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, were found deceased in their Santa Fe, New Mexico home on February 26, 2025. The couple's dog was also found dead at the scene. Authorities have reported no signs of foul play, with carbon monoxide poisoning or a gas leak being considered as potential causes.

Born on January 30, 1930, in San Bernardino, California, Hackman's career spanned five decades, during which he delivered memorable performances in films such as "The French Connection," "Unforgiven," "The Royal Tenenbaums," and "Superman." He earned two Academy Awards: Best Actor for "The French Connection" and Best Supporting Actor for "Unforgiven."
